Living Earth - Weather & Clock App Reviews

Terrible, terrible app.

Do not buy this app! I just bought it for my laptop thinking it would be as nice as the one on my mobile device and it absolutely is not. Very unimpressed by the version I just paid for. Not only is it not as good or informative as the one on my phone but when I connected the two through my usb cable the syncing process erased all the cities that I had programed into my phone over the past year. Seriously, I am unable to fully express how unimpressed and downright upset I am that I just purchased this garbage app.

Great desktop and screensaver!

App itself is a bit small and needs some work but the desktop and screensaver are awesome!

I had the App on my IPhone and was great then downloaded it on my MACbook Air and am happy with its perofmrance and recommend it for all as a good timing machine . Would like they add alarm clock and to be used on the bars autmotaiclly for more than one city .

Nice but missing features from the iOS version

Performance and graphics are great. Screensaver and desktop is neat. However, the desktop version only has the basics being weather and rendering of the Earth. It doesn’t seem to have the niftier features you find on the iOS version such as global tempereature overlays and cyclone warnings. Also, a bit if a nitpick but it would be nice to see an option to use gestures instead of buttons when navigating through locations and detailed weather sections.

Does exactly what it says and looks great

I decided to purchase this weather app over others primarialy because I wanted something that was just that - a weather app. I like the fact that it offers great functionality and good looks but never tries to overstep its bounds (normal operation, not counting screen saver), it just sits in the top bar and offers the information I asked for. Also, it does not take up a lot of space to show me some temps and precipitation stats which is perfect, that’s not enough info for a whole screen anyway. When I click, I get more of the information I want and no more, just what I ask for and that’s what is great. Thank you for making a weather app that is a weather app and not a hodgepodge of other functionality that happens to tell me the weather. The only requests I could possibly make are to update to match 10.10+ and the ability to add extra icons to the menu bar for other locations beyond one. Not sure if the second request is an app or OS X limitation though.

Finally !

Finally a weather application that offers all the qualities I’ve been looking for: beautiful, sits in the taskbar, great weather database (yes, including some obscure cities in Bresse in France), multiple days and detailed day forecast, desktop background, screensaver and even IOS equivalent … Honestly the best weather app I’ve used.

Crashing

Waking up to the app not being open every morning. This is new. Otherwise, it’s great.

Screensaver crashes, locks up computer

I used to enjoy the screensaver of this app, but now after it has run for awhile, the image locks, de-pixelates, and renders the computer unuseable. Otherwise, it is a very good, and useful app.

Nice, but but needs a little more

I like this app. Its nice and it seems to work well all round. One small thing I would like, is the ability to have the different locations Ive added display in their actual local time zones, rather than the time zone I happen to be in.

Nice wallpaper!

Nice app!

Türkiye’nin her yerinde hava durumunu sorunsuz gösteren bir uygulama

Nihayet Türkiye’nin her yerinde hava durumunu sorunsuz ve doğru gösteren bir uygulama. 5 yıldız. Finally an application that reports weather flawlessly for every location in Turkey. 5 stars.

just great

it is really great app. retina support and everything else is great. Just add some more function as iphona app has!!!

zoom

Put more zoom and beter graphics !

Localizations

Please add language localizations and ability to use star space backdrop instead of black color

Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes. (Vir.)

This unexpensive pleasure may cost you very much finally. For example, if your Office would suddenly break down. And then you may ask yourself, what if these permanently working niceties are nothing less than a spy program? Am I paranoiac?

Unsupported Graphics Hardware

Impossible to update the app. I get an error "Unsupported Graphics Hardware” since two weeks but there’s no fix, although it says (since two weeks) that an update has been submitted to Apple.

Fantastic

This app is fantastic — a hypnotic screensaver that looks great both on my monitor as well as my TV screen. My only complaint is that the screen saver runs independently of the system screen savers, meaning that if I don’t manually kill the app, it will launch into a screen saver while watching a movie, etc. (thus my rating of 4 stars) It’s also pretty resource-heavy, but that’s to be expected I guess. All in all, it’s a beautiful, well-done app.

The Best!!

I’ve tried many, and I mean many live desktop apps, and living Earth HD is by far the best one. Good job for the guys at Radiant Labs.

I do like this application very much

It is certainly my favorite way to check on the weather locally and around the world including large storms world wide. I like to keep track of the direction the world is taking. As it is I find myself telling people about how places like Machu PIcchu near Cuzco Peru, Vulture Peak near Rajgir India where the Buddha used to meditate, have changed since I was there 30 years ago. Even places that are now entirely gone due to violent storms. I also remember an Encyclopedia that used to come with Windows and had a revolving Earth on the opening screen. It had a bug listed that was with all the other MS Bugs. It had the standard bug report format and a short description of the problem “Error: Earth rotates in wrong direction”. Perhaps someday you could make a version of this App that combines some aspects of the Apple “Time Machine” application which would allow user to look backward and forward in time to see how the Earth was and how it will be (on the large, geographic scale), updated regularly with data based on the current scientific consensus, looking ahead until the Earth no longer exists or there is no one left to see it, whichever comes first.
